At $230 you aren't getting fine furniture but for the price this media cabinet/TV stand is surprisingly nice. We needed a unit tat was lower than the 28" tall unit we had before. Going lower meant it needed to be longer for storage. This fits the bill. Instructions were OK. No words just drawings so you have to be careful in matching the pieces to the drawings. There are stenciled part #'s on the unpainted sides but not for all pieces. Took about an hour and a half for one person, age 69. The tinted glass doors were pretty easy to fit. Be careful when screwing in the magnetic push latches. Do not even come close to tightening too much or they'll crack. Also, the should be 4 holes but I only had 2. Had to mark and drill an additional 2 holes each. Once put together it looks sleek and modern. Very sturdy. My only gripe is the depth. Could use a other 1" to 1 1/2. My Denon comes out to the very front edge of the open middle compartment. I will have to cut out a small round hole in the back for the AVR power plug. Depending on you wiring requirements, you may need to enlarge one or more of the pre-cut holes. The hole servicing the AVR is pretty crowded on my setup.I like this cabinet. Having said that, be aware that it is particle board. I would not recommend much moving after assembly. Assembly was simple and straight forward. There were no words in the instructions, only pictures but it was clear how to assemble. Look very carefully on how to mount the glass doors before doing so. The veneer on the particle board is pretty good and it looks good when assembled. It was well packed, with no damage to the contents. One of the magnetic catches did not work and I am awaiting delivery of a replacement, which was easy to order on their web site. It has holes in the back of the cabinet to run wires through. I found them convenient for my use. However, they are very noticeable from the front if you have a lighter color wall behind. I just put a "flap" of dark material to cover them up and it looks great. My need for a TV stand that would accommodate a 60" HDTV, AV receiver, Blu-ray player, center speaker, and assorted other electronic devices and not break the bank, led me to the Sonax FB-2607 Fiji 60-Inch TV Component Bench on Amazon. I needed it shipped quickly (via Prime), costing less than two hundred dollars, and having the ability to provide customizable compartments by moving around the shelving. This one fit the bill!SETUP:It arrived today in a long, flat carton weighing 80 pounds. The carton had some minor damage, but nothing was broken inside the box. There were a few significant scratches on the laminate, which unfortunately are in areas that can be seen. I will be using brown shoe polish (per another reviewers suggestion) to soften their look if needed after items are placed on the shelves.First thing I did was take out all the pieces (10) major particle board ones, and then count all the screws and assorted hardware prior to beginning the project. I also got an electric (battery operated) screwdriver with a Philips head, and a drill with the same. There is wood glue in the package too, but I suggest having more on hand (I didn't...and ran out).Second, I took a look at the directions from start to finish. They are not good. They number the wood pieces, but never mention 'top, bottom, side...', which would be very helpful as on only one part did I ever see an actual number and it was very small and stamped in gray on the back corner of the piece. Easy to miss! I relied mainly on the diagrams and common sense to put this one together, and for the most part, that worked.Third, I took my time. From start to finish I had this thing put together (by myself) within 1.5 hours. I'm familiar with tools and following directions to get things assembled, but no pro. I'm also dyslexic, and often learn by looking at pictures, which helped me. I kept visualizing the finished product and thinking about the laminated sides of things being seen with the others being 'to the back'.Pre-drilled holes were placed perfectly, and the fit was generally good. The directions were awful, but thankfully, there were not too many pieces to get confused or misplaced. In the end, setup took a bit longer than expected as despite my best efforts I ran into a few snags:1. Dowels not fitting easily into holes that were too small.2. Plastic screws for attaching the tempered glass doors stripped and required some ingenuity to get 'good enough' to work.3. Directions had virtually no written assistance for things like the placement of the magnetic portion that goes on the glass door. (It's easy enough to figure out and move it as needed, but at first, frustrating.)FINISHED PRODUCT, USABILITY & PRICE:The look of this piece when finished with assembly is as pictured. Dark, clean lines and smoked tempered glass, no surprises other than the scratches mentioned previously. The piece has a 'retro' 70's - early 80's feel to me. Sort of like something that would have been in my parent's house 'back in the day' - at least in the brown finish.Because you can leave the tempered glass doors off, and easily move around the shelves to fit your component needs (or not use the shelves at all), this is probably the most customizable unit I've seen in a long time. It's sturdy enough that I will feel confident using it for a This Sonax Stand arrived missing pieces and doesnt match photos in ad! It turns out to have terrible build quality. The edges of the wood on the back panel are unfinished. It was even missing hardware to assemble! To make matters worse the feet don't match the ones in ad!! Total disappointment. Poor build quality! Expected WAY WAY more from a proper brand name! The item was shipped from BC, but despite traveling across the country, arrived with only a small scratch on the box, and no damage to any of the components inside. I was afraid there might be some damage in the shipping as other reviews had cited this happened, but the package was reinforced with cardboard frames to ensure nothing rested directly on top of the packaging, and there was a generous amount of styrofoam padding to line the interior of the box.For what you pay for this stand, the quality is acceptable. It's particle board, and anyone with Ikea furniture assembly experience will be right at home here. Once assembled, with all screws tightened, it still feels a little bit wobbly, but that would only be an issue if you plan to move it around a lot or bump into it frequently. Otherwise, once it's set in place, it's a functional, modest looking TV stand with glass doors that recall the glory days of 80s interior decorating. It's definitely made with home electronics in mind, as the shelving allows space at the back for cables to snake through, and the actual back of the shelf can be nailed down so that it leaves clearance at the top or bottom for cable management. We were at several retail shops including best buy and we found this unit less costly, sturdy and provides ample shelving for stereo equipment. It also has a low sleek designI actually use this for my computer desk, since I use a 42" TV for my monitor and a Sofa for seating. This has enough spots to store stuff that I can fit my PC, UPS, 7.1 receiver, centre speaker, subwoofer, game pads and it is still less cluttered than my old desk!Fast delivery looking OK for the price. Takes 20-30 min to assembly together, check dimensions of you AV receiver cabinet it's not to deep. If you have any plugs in behind you have to cut some openings. General cabinet have plenty room for AV equipment and some decorations.
