This media stand resulted in a clean, professional looking result for my new 85 inch LCD TV. Everyone loves it, and the price can’t be beat.A key feature of this item is that it is constructed of solid wood (soft pine or poplar is my guess), with no particle board. This makes it lighter, stronger, easier to repair, and simple to modify if needed (which I explain below).Although being made of solid wood makes it lighter than its particle board competitors, the shipping box is heavy as it’s a large piece of furniture. I opened the box on the ground floor and carried the pieces upstairs. It’s much better to make multiple trips safely than one trip to the doctor with an injury. The instructions were excellent, and all the parts clearly labeled. I am very handy, and it took me 90 minutes to assemble by myself. It's not simple, but with patience anyone can do it. If you are not handy, then bribe a handy friend or relative to do it for you. Handy people are helpful people, and like hugs ... and bribes. I made 2 enhancements to hide all the wires which resulted in a very clean, professional finish:1. Drilled a hole through the back panel behind the upper right door so I could put wires through it and use that compartment as a home for a power strip and extra TV cables. Everyone needs a home.2. Installed a 1”x3” strip of stained pine to the back edge which allows the top shelf to press up against the wall so you can’t see between the wall and the back of the stand. This completely hides all the wires that you spent time running behind the wall when you view the stand from side. I didn't want to see any wires!I posted pictures to give others ideas on how to optimize their results. Enjoy!
